Brooklyn Hospital Goes Live With EmpowER (Brooklyn, NY; April 5, 2006) – Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, went live with EmpowER on April 4.
“EmpowER has helped to organized the doctors and nurses in their patient care,” says medical director Dr. Bonnie Simmons. “It has calmed down our very busy ED. We look more professional and our work environment is noticeably quieter. That even occurred on day one of the go-live!”
From the beginning, the Lutheran team was on board with ECDS’ “big bang” approach and we willing and excited to transition all users to EmpowER. ECDS is proud of this new partnership and looks forward to helping Lutheran Medical Center to further pursue its commitment to its patients and community.
“EmpowER immediately gave us the means to provide a safer environment for our patients,” says nurse manager Diana Gazza, RN. The documentation system enables the clinicians to create a concise and legible record. The built-in risk management features provide clinical safeguards with the documentation of allergies, so if a clinician orders a drug or derivatives, a warning pops up. SAFETY—I love it!”
Lutheran HealthCare, founded in 1883, has been serving its community for 122 years. As an acute general community hospital, Lutheran HealthCare endeavors to bring the benefits of scientific research and academic medicine to the people of southwest Brooklyn, and automating the patient charting practices in the emergency department is yet another step in this direction. |
